Marco V. Pereira was born in London to Portuguese Jordanian parents, completed his studies in Bogotá, and has lived in New York & Dubai. Much of his professional life has been spent teaching, travelling when not teaching, and photographing when travelling.
35mm analogue was shot for years on a Canon A1, though more recently a digital SLR has been the camera of choice. In order to formalise, reflect upon and re-evaluate photographic practice, Marco V. Pereira completed a MA Photography degree at Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2016/17, forming part of the Un.Obscura international collective and Degree Show.
The MA brought opportunities to explore new analogue formats such as 120mm Medium Format and 35mm XPan, as well as durational experimentation in animation and cinematography. An investigation into the smearing of time and meaning in long-exposures led to an interrogation of the divergence between image and icon in such photography.
Wandering through travel leads to natural exploration of new environments - always with a critical eye for fresh opportunities to question, and so in turn, further reasons to wonder...
